Phil attained his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1980, then spent two years as a Resident Medical Officer at the Princess Alexandria hospital in Brisbane, before going to train for another two years as the Emergency Medicine Registrar at the hospital. In 1985 he took over the Rosalie practice of his own family doctor, Harrymuir, on whom he modelled his practice philosophy of traditional cradle to the grave general practice, treating his patients with care, respect, compassion and 24/7 availability. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australia College of General Practitioners in 1990, achieving the highest marks in Australia in those examinations, tying with another Western Suburbs Dr Aldyth Love, and was jointly awarded the colleges M.O. Kent-Hughs memorial medal for that achievement. With more than 34 years’ experience in family general practice, he combines extensive medical skills with his keen interest in all aspects of Family Health, with a special interest in the diagnosis, management, prevention and removal of skin cancer. Dr Manfield is a specialist General Practitioner who grew up in the local area and attended Milton State Primary School. He still lives locally in the Rosalie Village.
David graduated from Medicine in 1975 from the University of Queensland. He joined the practice in 2005 having spent 10 years running his own practice and 20+ years at a dual doctor practice in the Camp Hill/Carindale area. In addition to his extensive years of experience in General Practice he enjoys Child and Adolescent Health, Family Planning and Pregnancy, and Respiratory Health. He has lived in the Paddington/Auchenflower area for over 25 years and enjoys supporting his grandchildren’s fund-raising efforts and maintaining his farm.
Katherine graduated medical school in 2004 from the University of Queensland. She has worked in many different places such as North Queensland, Northern NSW and Western Australia before settling back in Brisbane in 2011, where she has been working as a General Practitioner since. She has worked in the NSW hospital system and has completed a Diploma of Anaesthetics, a Diploma of Medical Dermatology, and in 2013 gained her Certificate in Travel Medicine. She enjoys the cradle to the grave aspect of General Practice, as well as having a keen interest in Travel Medicine. She loves spending time with her family, travelling and has her own small business designing handbags.
After graduating in medicine from the University of Queensland, Theresa spent 12 years working in various rural areas of Queensland before settling in Brisbane. After working for over a decade at an inner city general practice, she has spent the last 3 years working with students at QUT. Theresa’s special interests include Mental Health (Adolescent and Adult Depression, Anxiety, OCD and mood disorders), Gynaecology (especially Poly Cystic Ovary Disease and Endometriosis), Chronic Disease Management and Paediatrics.

Skin Cancer
The east coast of Australia has some of our country’s highest rates of skin cancer in Australia, including Melanomas. It is important to look after your skin, and we are happy to assist this by providing skin cancer checks and treatment of all forms of skin lesions using therapies such as creams, PDT* or excisions. Our doctors have special interests in skin medicine and undertake additional training to enhance their skills in this area.
*Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) utilises photosensitising agents, oxygen and light to create a photochemical reaction that selectively destroys cancer cells. Photosensitising agents are drugs which are administered onto the skin through topical application, they concentrate in cancer cells and only become active when light of a certain wavelength is directed onto the area of the skin where the cancer is. The photodynamic reaction between the photosensitising agent, light and oxygen kills the cancer cells.
